Expected Surprise

So.... Has anyone ever had the moments where they can see or feel a moment flash before their eyes. Today was one of those days. The next story I'm about to tell you, is a true story. But to hide the real people involved, I am going to use the first character of there First name.

R, T, B, and myself all decided to catch Constantine @ 2:00. When I arrived at the movie theater, surprisingly and as usual I found R extremely drunk. You could smell it on him from about five feet away. With a pair of Oakley sunglasses on inside the theater(to hide the redness in his eyes), I knew it was going to be a long day. We all walk towards the theater, and grab our seats. About ten minutes in to our movie, R decides that the movie is too slow and wants to grab a drink AN ALCOHOLIC DRINK. So he leaves. Right around then, my friend T leaned over and asked me if I could give him a ride to his house. I totally understood his concern and told him I would definately help him out. About fifteen minutes later, R shows up in the theater, wobbling around without any control, and also with a 32 oz cup in hand. The cup with filled with Apple Martini. Which he made himself from driving to and from the movie theater.

After the movie was over, and we are walking towards our cars. In the entrance of the parking garage, I was parked on level 1, and R was parked on level 2. R was very upset over the decision T had made for himself to ride with me instead of R. On the ride home, T and I talked about how worried we are about R, but the only way to get through his thick head would be if he learned from his own mistakes. So I dropped off my friend T and started to drive home. On the way back, I saw R coming towards the house. All I could think about was how he must be venting to B about the type of friends T and I are to him.

Come to find out... R was venting so much to B that he forgot to pay attention to the road. R slammed into the back of an SUV. When R got out of the vehicle, to swap insurance information, the other vehicle had already called the police. R blew a .2, which is extremely over the state legal limit. Which cause R to become arrested for a DUI and spent a night in jail.

Hi-- I am T. I thought that this was particularly weird because I said to Nilay, "I bet R is talking sh*t on me right now. Wouldn't it be a sad irony if something really happened?" Keep in mind that R had never gotten in a DWI wreck before. So B called me at home about 5 minutes after I had gotten there. B is under-aged for drinking. I told him to get the hell out of there because he took a sip and I knew that they would breathalize him also. Well, now ( a couple of weeks later ), it seems as though R is trying to taper off of alcohol. I have known him for a long time and he has been through a lot of sh*t. If he can do this, it is a feather in his cap.
